Distraction free writing has never been easier. Written in Markdown syntax your text will look great while writing and on the web. There is no live preview because with Markdown, you don’t need one.
Bold uses the powerful kramdown parser, which allows for advanced formatting of your text, without having to resort to raw HTML.
Vi(m) users will love the built in VI mode. Just turn it on in your user profile.
Your photos are no second class citizens in Bold. Images are optimized for the web and scaled to the exact size as specified by your theme, making support for Retina and other high resolution displays a breeze. EXIF metadata is extracted and used automatically. The Featherlight Plugin makes your photos shine with automatic lightboxes. Using the Flickr Plugin you can import photos directly from your Flickr account. More integrations (Instagram, Dropbox, …) are on the way!
Bold comes with commenting built in. That means there is no need for third party services that require JavaScript, might track your users across the web or annoy them with ads on your site which you have no control over.
The integrated Akismet spam check keeps evil spam bots out. In addition to that, you may opt to manually approve any comment before it appears on the site.
Twitter Card and OpenGraph metadata ensure your site makes a great appearance when visitors share your articles.
Bold keeps track of visits and page views so you can easily see which posts gain the most traction and how general traffic on your sites develops.
Manage any number of sites in a single instance of Bold. Each user can be assigned to a distinct set of sites, with editor or administrative permissions as needed.
Bold gives you full control over your URLs. Title and description meta data can be edited for each post and page. Schema.org, LD+JSON, OpenGraph and Twitter Card meta data delivery is already built in so those robots get an idea what your site is about as well.
Bold themes and extensions are just Rails Engines. Custom layouts, controllers, routes, views and models - you can do far more with Bold than just render posts and pages.
Bold is under active development, no formal releases have been made yet. You can always get the latest code on GitHub.
